Senior at Notre Dame of West Haven

The 18U Academy is happy with their team’s results, but they know there’s plenty for them to work on, too.  The team has a 18-3-2 to record so far this season, and they have shown plenty of reason for optimism. Their new recruits along with a strong core of returners of players can go head-to-head with anyone in the league, and the team looks forward to how much they can grow this season. Ethan Bellamy is a strong returner that wears his heart on his sleeve and brings a consistent work ethic to the rink every day along with a great attitude.

"The way Bells works is nothing new.  We see how much he cares and the leadership he brings to the group. This nomination is well-deserved. Ethan has bite to his game and plays a very physical role for us. He’ll keep opponents on their toes and their head on a swivel too. Added Peter Alden

How Important is practice to you and what do you set each week?

Practice is the most important thing to me because that’s where championships are won. I set a goal to get one percent better every day at practice.

What is your favorite part of the Academy?

My favorite part about Elite Hockey Academy is its amazing development as a player and student. Being able to attend Notre Dame with all my teammates and become a better student, then head to the rink and train on and off the ice. 

Who is your role model and why?

My favorite role model is Sidney Crosby because of his elite mindset and great work ethic. He is also an incredibly skilled hockey player and a very mannerly person. 

Junior at Notre Dame of West Haven

The 16U Academy has started to trust themselves more this season, and the results have been better in the month of October with a team record of 13-10-3.  The 16U Academy in the beginning of the season were missing assignments on the defensive side of it, giving up too many scoring chances, taking penalties, but as of late have finally woke up a little bit and creating more chances and playing sound defensively.  The 16s have also had more players such as Gabe Locklear step as team leaders and producing on a consistent bases in practice and in games.

“Our best players, are always going to give us a chance to win,”Eric Linell said. Gabe has emerged as one of our top guys.  As we continue to improve this season, we’re going to keep pushing guys like Gabe and others to get them to the top of their game.”

How do you feel you have been playing lately?

I feel like I have been playing pretty strong capitalizing on opportunities that I have.

How do you prepare for Game Day?

On game day I like to get to the rink early, listen to some tunes with the boys and get mentally and physically dialed in. 

What is your favorite part about the Academy?

My favorite part about this program is the family that you are surrounded by. Everyone looks out for each other whether it’s on the ice or in school. 

Brody Tamulevich

The 12U Major team went on a heater last weekend, going 3-0 with wins over West Haven and the NJ jets.  Brody Tamulevich had a lot to do with their success, as he exploded out of the gates with a hattrick over West Haven and then contributing more points over the weekend vs a fiesty NJ Jets team.  

Head Coach Eric Germain "Brody T had five points over the weekend. He created a lot of turnovers with his aggressive forecheck against West Haven, scoring a hat trick against them."

The 10U Major team is playing one of the toughest schedules in New England as they are going against the top teams in the country with the AYHL schedule and then also taking on local opponents in the CHC, competing for a top seed on the leaderboard. One of the team's top performers, Logan Minio has been consistently good this season for the 10U Major team.  

Head Coach, Christopher Andreucci  added, "Logan has an excellent combination of skill, speed and hockey IQ. His ability to play a two way game, offensively and defensively, really helps exemplify what we are teaching our young players. He is always in the right position in the defensive zone and a key piece offensively up front. Logan’s individual abilities, along with his continued unselfish play, truly makes him stand out immediately during games."
