The Elite Hockey Academy continues to trend upward in the early stages of the 2023/2024 regular season.
As the players and teams continue to improve and impress, we are excited to announce the EHA players of the week recipients!
Congratulations to the following players, keep up the good work:
18U Goalie, Tyler Picha
12U PeeWee Minor Defensemen, Connor Owens
10U Squirt Major Forward, Brody Schulte
Tyler Picha
Goaltender, #88
18U Elite Hockey Academy
Tyler Picha has been a stone wall for his Elite 18U Academy team. This past weekend, the Colorado native impressed, with winning both AYHL games 3-0 vs Philadelphia Little Flyers and 5-1 vs NJ Avalanche.
Picha's performance helped the 18's collect two wins taking his own win total to 11 on the year. Both his Saturday and Sunday performance were notable as he shutout the Philadelphia Little Flyers, facing 35 shots against and on Sunday stood tall with 30 saves. The wins improved EHA's record to 2-1 in the AYHL and 12-3-2 on the season, thus far.
Tyler can you give us a quote you live by?
"Obsession beats talent every time. You got all the talent in the world but are you obsessed?”
How do you prepare for the week and game day for better results?
I always like to keep it the same. Everything I do is the same before every practice and every game. Also, I gotta make sure I have no distractions.
What is your pre-game routine ?
Go for a run to get the blood flowing. Juggle with tennis balls, to warm up your hands and eyes, along with a good Stretch with the team and then on my own.
How important is practice to you and things you focus on for continuing to improve?
Practice is very important to me because no matter how good I do in practice I can always do better.
Conner Owens
Defense, #91
12U PeeWee Minor
Conner is a first year Elite Youth Hockey player having made the PeeWee Minor team. Conner is a player that shows up ready to put in the work! He is determined to push himself out of his comfort zones and work on his craft. On the ice and off the ice, Conner is proving to be what an EHA player is about. He is a great teammate and rising defenseman. Conner's hard work shined through this weekend as he had an outstanding series in the Columbus Day tournament including getting on the scoresheet.
Brody Shulte
Forward, #87
10U Squirt Major
Brody possess explosive quickness at a young age, which ends up putting a lot of stress on opposing defenders. He has shown game in and game out he can be a threat to score every time he has the puck. We are excited to help him and the rest of our group develop into strong hockey players.
