EHA Players of the Week - Week of September 26, 2022

EHA Players of the Week:  Rogie CacciarelliConnor Alden, John Cantley

September 28, 2022

Guilford, Conn., - The Elite Hockey Academy continues to trend upward in the early stages of the 2022/2023 regular season and a big reason why is that our coaches focus on teaching age-appropriate concepts and skills, up-tempo practices, and also create a highly competitive hockey environment.

As the players and teams continue to improve and impress, we are excited to announce the EHA players of the week recipients for the week of September 26, 2022!

Congratulations to the following players, and keep up the good work!

18U Player of the Week: Rogie Cacciarelli

There were definitely a number of great performances this week on the blue line but Cacciarelli claims the title for Defenseman of the Week. Cacciarelli  has been an anchor on the back end for his 18U Academy squad. His hard work has paid off as he has been rewarded with POW honors after this past weekend. The 18U Academy team is riding a 5 game win streak with the help of some overtime heroics from Rogie on Sunday in New Jersey. He was held off the scoresheet on Saturday, however, his shot blocking and defensive play was prevalent in both wins. On Sunday, he put up 2 assists and sniped the overtime game winning goal to end the weekend on a high note. In all 3 games Rogie was a +1 and currently leads the team in plus/minus with a staggering +14 on the year.

When asked for a quick quote about his weekend, he humbly replied, “[Its] the beginning of something great”. Referring to his team's success, and the future of the season." Said Cacciarelli

“Rogie has been great for us on the back end. He has really brought into the concepts and systems that are being set forth”.

--- 18U Associate Head Coach, Scott Davidson

12U Minor Player of the Week: Connor Alden

The 12U (2011) defenseman Connor Alden, helped his club pick up three huge league points in the AYHL this past weekend with a 3-0 win and 3-3 tie in Connecticut vs WBS Knights. The native of Branford, Connecticut, put up three points, 2 goals and one assist. Alden recorded an assist on Saturday afternoon vs NY Saints. The next day he finished with two goals in a double header with WBS Knights, scoring in each game.

"Connor generated some offense this  weekend. He scored 2 nice goals on Sunday and assisted on one Saturday. He was constantly supporting the offense while playing strong defense also! He is a hard worker and leads by example, good job!

-- Head Coach, Eric Germain

10U Player of the Week: John Cantley

EHA 10U Minor (2013) Forward, John Cantley, had a breakout weekend with seven-points, 5 goals and 2 assists.  The native of Guilford, Connecticut picked up a hatrick vs the Whalers Saturday and another 2 goals and 2 assists on Sunday vs the Colonials for the 10U Minor EHA team. Assistant Coach Ken Pia added, "Johnny is a natural leader. The players flock to him since he is one of our top guys and brings it everyday."

"Johnny is a funny, energetic kid to be around off the ice. He is a very skilled player with enormous potential and that was on display this past weekend."

--- Head Coach, Christopher Andreucci
