Guilford, Conn.- The Elite Hockey Academy is happy to announce that 18U forward Logan Nickerson has signed a tender to join Connecticut's own Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks of the NAHL for the 2021-2022 season.

Since he was a youngster, Logan has been a part of the EHA program. Elite Hockey Academy President Peter Alden has been coaching Logan since he was a squirt. Alden could not have been more thrilled about Logan moving on up to the next level. “Logan has always been a good player at every level for our program,” said Alden. “As he has gotten older Logan has learned how to use his size and strength in the offensive zone, and as a result, he has used those tools to turn himself into a great player. He's been loyal and determined player that reaped the benefits of the "process" of long term development. Logan has a bright future, and I’m excited to watch him grow as a player at the next level.”

Logan couldn’t have been more ecstatic to sign a tender with the Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks in the NAHL for the 2021-2022 season. He thanked his family, all of his coaches, and teammates after signing his tender.  “I’m excited to take the next step in my career, so close to home with a great organization like the Jr. Hat Tricks,” said Nickerson. “I want to thank my family, who have sacrificed so much for me to reach this point. I also wouldn’t be here without my teammates who I have played with at the program. I have formed lifelong friendships with a lot of my teammates here at the Academy that I would not have made if it was not for the Academy. Lastly, I would also like to thank all of my coaches through the years, especially Coach Alden, Coach Geoff {Martottolo}, and Coach Gintoli who pushed me to become a complete player.`

Nickerson has been a top player for a while now here at EHA and is a current senior in the Academy. He holds a 85% GPA and member of our creative writing club and community service club. Head of Academics, Bill Crande added “Logan’s focus in the past has been primarily on the game of hockey. This year, however, he and EHA Academy had the opportunity to hear Matt Darche, (Director of Hockey Operations for the Tampa Bay Lightning), speak on the value of his education during and following his professional hockey career. At this juncture Logan began to see the value in his studies, and he found real success in the classroom. We are proud of the man Logan has become both on and off the ice.”

Before signing a tender with the Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks, he was selected in the 2019 QMJHL Draft by the Acadie-Bathurst Titan and in the 2020 NCDC Draft by the Connecticut Jr. Rangers. He also was named to the AYHL and ECEL All-Star Games at U15 and U16 levels during the last two seasons.

The Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks are a junior team that plays out of the Danbury Arena in Danbury, Conn. They are currently in their first season in the NAHL after being sold and moved from Wilkes-Barre Scranton. Although they have only been around for one season, Danbury has seen two alums of the EHA program play for the Jr. Hat Tricks, as Mark D'Agostino and Cody Hoban have played for the Jr. Hat Tricks this season. From all of us here at the Academy, we could not be more proud of Logan. We all look forward to following Logan as he reaches the next level of the game.
