GUILFORD, CONN., – The Elite Hockey Academy, proud members of the Connecticut Hockey Conference (CHC), Atlantic Youth Hockey League (AYHL) and East Coast Elite League (ECEL) today announced a new addition to the 2020-2021 coaching staff. Dan Bogdan has accepted the role of V.P. of Player Development and assistant coach with the 18U & 16U Academy teams.  Bogdan will transition into his role later this month.

Over the course of June, Bogdan and Alden will work together to facilitate a smooth transition. The new roles and responsibilities for Bogdan include, on-ice skills director, In-class Academy Mentor, Associate head coach of the 18U and 16U teams and assisting in identifying qualified student athletes for the Elite Hockey Academy.

Bogdan, 30, joins the Elite Hockey Academy from Kenai River Brown Bears of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), where he served as Associate Head Coach and Director of Player Personnel. He guided the Bears to a 27-19-3 record this past season, and helped the program reach 3rd in the Mid-West Division.  Prior to this, he worked as an assistant coach at Northfield Mount Hermon, and served as the on ice strength and conditioning/skills coach for the University of Connecticut. Still currently running in the off season months is a company called Top Speed Hockey which he co-owns, formed in 2016.

"I am very excited to take on this role and continue to build Elite Hockey into a destination for players. This organization has a strong foundation and I am looking forward to continuing to build on that, giving players the best possible environment to improve both on and off the ice before their Junior and NCAA careers."

“Dan Bogdan brings a wealth of coaching experience from the Junior A and Prep School levels to the Elite Hockey Academy” said Alden. “His versatility as a coach and experience with skill development will serve our organization and our players very well. We have a strong group of incoming players, and the combination of Marottolo, Gintoli, Kantor and other great staff members, will ensure we give our players the best opportunity to develop and gain exposure to Junior A and NCAA D1/D3 schools.

“It has been a tremendous two years in Kenai in the North American Hockey League and I am grateful for the experiences that I have had with the program and players.” said Bogdan.
