Guilford, Conn., - We are proud to announce that four players have been selected into the Atlantic Youth Hockey League All-Star Game.  The Elite Hockey Program will be well represented from the 16U Premier team, Logan Nickerson, Brenden Coon, Cody Spear, and Peyton Van Buskirk.   The AYHL All-Star Game will be held at the People’s United Center at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Conn. on February 1, 2020.

All of these players have shown consistency and been a key part of the team's success this season. 16U Premier Head Coach, Peter Alden is happy that these players are getting recognition from the league, and have earned this opportunity. “I’m excited for all four of these players to be named to the AYHL All-Star Game,” said Alden. "They have all grown a lot as players throughout the season and been a big part of our success this season, and all are deserving of this honor from the league."

Logan Nickerson from Connecticut, has been a goal machine this season. An Acadie-Bathurst Titan draft pick in the QMJHL has seven goals in nine games this season in the AYHL. Alden who has seen Logan come up through the ranks, says he is someone that uses his body very well and is a consistent scorer. “Nickerson has both the size, speed, and strength to play his role well and be a physical player that is not afraid to mix it up and make an impact at key points in the game,” said Alden. “He has proven his ability as an elite scorer and a difference maker over the years and i am excited for what the future will bring.”

Brenden Coon from Texas, is somebody who has made his presence known as of late. In his last three games, he has nine points, including putting up three points against the New Jersey Devils in AYHL play. Alden has been very impressed with his performance. “He has been lighting it up as of late,” said Alden. “I think anytime you are able to end up on the scoresheet, whether scoring goals or making the play, you are really developing consistency and finding ways to contribute.  It hasn't come easy for Brenden this season but has really taken control of his habits, and work ethic which has built him confidence with the puck and finding the back of the net." Added Alden

Cody Spear, a native of Alaska, has been very impressive this year as he is currently leading the team in scoring in the AYHL. A playmaker who has been averaging a point a game since the calendar turned to November. He has helped to pace the offense throughout the 9-1 record in the past 10 games. Alden believes that he has helped others by using his vision to find the open man and developed a unique scoring touch as well.  “Cody can make players better around him by a result of his vision on the ice, but also knows how to shoot to score” said Alden.

Another native of Alaska, Peyton Van Buskirk, has been a steady contributor on the back end for the team this season. He came in with a lot of promise from a hot summer, attending 15U Boys 2019 USA Hockey National Player Development Camp in Amherst, NY.  “As a 2004 playing in strong leagues, he’s been able to make an impact with his offensive ability but also has a strong defensive foundation to be relied upon in key moments.” said Alden. “I think the future is very bright for Payton, he’s got a lot of talent, and is only scratching the surface of his potential."

In the new year, The 16U Premier team is back in action, as they hit the road, and take a drive down I-95 to Philadelphia, where they will play the Valley Forge Minuteman and Philadelphia Jr Flyers in more AYHL action.
